2. Written 現在 genzai “present time, present day”, sung 今 ima “now”
3. The word 切ない setsunai “painful, heartbreaking” is written with the characters 刹那 setsuna “moment”.
Notes:
1. The title of this song is a made up Japanese word from 絵 e, kai “picture” and 夢 mu, yume “dream”. It seems emu is how Japanese people would pronounce this. I choose to write it e’ mu in romaji to avoid confusion with large birds, and think “dreamscapes” is a reasonable made-up English translation.
2. This song is often said to be about Kami, one of GACKT’s band mates from Malice Mizer who passed away suddenly shortly after he left the group. However, GACKT mentioned in the DIABOLOS tour book that he wrote this song when he was 19, before joining Malice Mizer. I believe the live performance of this song is dedicated to Kami though.
