2. 姿 (sugata). A word that doesn’t always translate smoothly. It means a person’s form or figure, their outward appearance.
3. “vessel”: He sings 箱(hako)-“box, container” but writes 躯(karada)-“body”, once again with the kanji for “corpse”.
4. As sung the line “kanashimi ni naite iru” simply means “cry in sadness”, but the kanji used are more specific than the ones that would normally be used.
Interpretation:
The lyrics to this song deliberately and repeatedly contrast the character’s external and physical form (a “corpse” or “vessel”) with their heart/soul/”true self”. In context, the song is most likely from “Gackt”/Proto’s point of view after being turned into a cyborg. Although he consented to becoming a machine in order to separate himself from his grief and memories of Elena’s violent death, his humanity and emotions persist.
